Rolling Stone magazine, long known for its in depth coverage of the music world, has an article in its recent issue that takes on the most powerful investment bank in the world, Goldman Sachs. The article, written by contributing editor Matt Taibbi, discusses how Goldman routinely manages to make money during good and bad economic times (unlike Lehman Brothers or Bear Stearns) as well as the positions of power Goldman alumni now occupy in the U.S. government. Taibbi writes that ”The world’s most powerful investment bank is a great vampire squid wrapped around the face of humanity”. Yikes! I thought I only had to look out for the Freemasons or the Illuminati! I wonder if I now have to add Goldman Sachs to the list?
